James, the chairman of Trustees in Kenya, is feeling fine and passes on his thanks for the financial support received from the UK donors.
The new term for primary and secondary junior school children began on Monday the 6th January. For senior secondary school students the new term can begin any time during the week, depending on the school. Teachers have been off during the month of December having their summer (!) break.
There are two new trustees on the trustee board in Kenya. The both live locally to the Happy Home site. One is a retired nurse and the other is a former County Director of Education who retired two years ago. As they live locally, they will help with the overall management of the site.
The newly built classroom on the site has been put into use for the primary school at the start of the term.
Three students are on a carpentry course on site, being taught by Vitalis, the carpenter. This is a new venture.
All the children were invited to meet at Happy Home on the 6th January, together with their Guardians. At this gathering they all received their Christmas gifts, which were bought by money provided by donors from St Clement's church. The secondary school children all received their school fees for the new term at the same time.
James expressed his gratitude on behalf of all the trustees for the sponsoring of those young men and women who have been able to go off to College or University to start their courses.
For prayer:
Give thanks to God for the generosity of all who support the work of Happy Home financially and through prayer.
James asked that we pray for:
all the children as they commence a new year of education that they will make the most of this opportunity to learn.
and for all involved in teaching, that they will share their knowledge with their classes to the best of their ability.
Pray for funding for a further new permanent classroom for next year.
Pray for the Kenyan Government as it is experiencing a lot of financial problems.
