We have organised our prayer requests into a daily schedule to help you with your prayers, which we very much appreciate.
DAY 1
Please pray for the welfare and well-being of the children and young people at Happy Home. Give thanks for the continuing work of Happy Home. Give thanks also for the people of Kopere who welcomed the arrival of the Orphanage some 14 years ago and the partnership that exists between the two.
Pray for all charities involved in caring for vulnerable children and young people throughout the African continent.
DAY 2
Give thanks for the blessing of clean drinking water since the provision of a new borehole. Give thanks too, for the water tanks that collect rainwater to provide water for washing, cleaning, and irrigation of crops.
Pray for Organisations such as Water Aid who provide communities world-wide with access to clean, fresh water, decent toilets, and hygiene knowledge.
Pray for rain throughout Western Kenya to enable the bean and maize crops to grow and produce a good harvest. This in turn will help to keep food prices at a level affordable to most people.
DAY 3
Give thanks for the Charity, “Tools with a Mission”, a Christian Charity that provides equipment to Skill Centres as well as individuals in Africa. These tools enable individuals to generate their own income and helps to create a mindset of independence rather than reliance.
Pray that many of the children at Happy Home might be helped to see the value of going to a Technical College to learn a practical skill on completion of their Secondary School Education. Such courses can lead to apprenticeships and eventually full-time employment.
DAY 4
Give thanks for all schools in Africa and for the hard working and dedicated teaching staff, together with admin and support staff who teach and run schools with little to no resources and quite often with no wages from their respective governments.
Give thanks also for the building of another classroom for the growing number of primary school children who wish to attend the new school on the Happy Home site.
Please pray for all Primary and Secondary School children who are so enthusiastic about going to school. That schools will be able to operate whatever the circumstances in relation to their buildings and availability of teaching staff. Pray especially for all Form 4 Secondary School Children who will be taking their final school exams in December.
DAY 5
Give thanks for all Colleges and Universities throughout Kenya for the opportunities they provide and for the present cohort of students seeking to enter the workplace.
Please pray for those Happy Home students currently attending Colleges of Further Education or who are taking a university course. We are currently supporting 5 students at university and 2 students taking practical courses at technical colleges.
Please pray for more donors to come forward to support other Happy Home Students waiting to attend either college or university.
DAY 6
Give thanks for all associated with Happy Home in Kenya. The trustees especially, together with the staff who work on-site, for their devotion toward the children and young people and for their tireless efforts to maintain and manage the site and oversee the well-being of their charges.
Please pray for the success of changes taking place across Kenya towards supporting more children with guardians and foster families in their own communities and away from orphanages. Please pray for the trustees and staff in Happy Home who are supporting those children with guardians with their educational needs and ensuring that they are well provided for.
DAY 7
Give thanks to God, that He has placed within His creation the desire to show compassion and to give practical help and support to the most vulnerable in society.
Please pray for more supporters to join this small charity of ours, that together we may make a huge difference to even more needy and disadvantaged children in Kenya.
Please also pray for the tens of thousands of ‘street children’ in Kenya who have no means of receiving an education or medical care or regular meals. Pray especially for those few groups and individuals who do reach out to these children.
With Every Blessing to you all.
Thank You
The Happy Home Trustees in the UK, wish to thank each and every one of you, our supporters: for your ongoing support and for being a real blessing to children who you will be unlikely to meet but who are immensely grateful for your generosity.
In the words of St Paul, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God” 2 Corinthians 1 v3-4.
Please note that the gradual changeover of emphasis by the Kenyan Government from privately run Orphanages to orphans being placed with Guardians within their birth communities still requires the financial support of the Orphanages which they have come from.
