Meanwhile, as reported earlier one of our crazier trustees secured a place on the GB age group team for the European Triathlon Championship in Madrid in June 2023. Phil finished 25th out of 35 starters in his age group in this European championship. The effort was generously supported via a JustGiving page with the result that a total of £1550 approximately, was raised towards the construction of permanent classrooms for the school at Happy Home. Using this money as seed funding we are applying for a grant to support the cost of building a permanent classroom on the site for the primary school.
We continue to thank you for your donations in support of Happy Home in Kenya. Our biggest cost is secondary school fees. It takes about £29 each month to pay the fees for one child at secondary school. To provide them with a uniform, school meals and travel expenses and pocket money takes another £14 for each child every month.
Of course, there are smaller costs in running the Home. For example, it costs about £6.50 to feed a child for one month, in addition to the maize and beans that are grown on the site. To keep the medicine cabinet stocked takes about £2.75 each month. There are currently just over fifty children in the care of Happy Home in Kenya, all receiving schooling and being taken care of. Your continued financial and prayer support makes all of this possible.
