Update on education (2)

Our regular donors provide support for the welfare and education of the children as they attend primary and secondary schools. Unfortunately, donations do not cover the costs of children who qualify to go on to tertiary education either at university or college. Children usually require support to buy a laptop, fund the fees for their first term at university and their subsistence costs for the remainder of their time at university. Young people going on to a vocational college incur even higher costs throughout their time at the college. To provide the funding for these young people we have to find donors who are prepared to support young people through their time of study at university or college. We are already supporting two young people at university.

This year we have had five young people wanting to continue their education at university. Courses chosen range from BSc in Computer Science to Bachelor of Arts to BSc in Community Health and Development. Finding sponsors for all these young people has been a challenge but with God's great provision through his people, we have been able to fund all the young people going to university!

For the young people, going to university marks a special milestone in their lives. The trustees in Kenya recognise this and so they have a special event where the new undergraduates are presented with their new laptops and smartphones which have come from the donations. The guardians also are given the funding for the fees and subsistence at the same event, so it is a special family occasion. Then the journey begins in earnest. It is time to pack their bags and travel to the university.

Below we see our newly sponsored students at different stages of their journey to begin further education.

From left to right below we see Shirley (BSc in Computer Science), Enoch (aka Samson) (BSc Community Health and Development) and Raphael (Bachelor of Human Resource Management) receiving their laptops from James, the chairman of the Trustees in Kenya.

Violet (below) (Diploma in Primary Teacher Education) has her bags packed and is ready to travel to her new university to begin her studies:

And the final new undergraduate, Dickline has arrived at university ready to begin his studies for a Bachelor of Arts degree:

Items for prayer:

In your prayers, please give thanks for God's provision of funding for these young people and continue to pray for them through their time at university, that they can enjoy the experience, that they will be able to grow and develop through their education and that they will remain safe and well at all times.
